Thermoelectric Generators for improved Waste heat recovery

Establish an EU project under Horizon 2020 work program - EE-18 call with deadline Feb.4, 2015 Tel-Tek will be coordinator and participate with technical competence within the TEG area, and with industrial and modeling competence Project target: The project wision is to make the European process industry more competitive and contribute to lower the CO2 emission by recovery of at least 15% excess energy. Project objectives: Demonstrate that it is technically feasible and commercial attractive for the process industry to recover at least 15% excess energy and due to that reduce the CO2 emission by implementing thermoelectric generators in industrial environment. Work packages/ work package content WP1: State of the Art (1) State of the art (2) Market analysis with cost, performance, lead time etc. for single stage generators (~5-15W) in suitable temperature ranges. WP2: System Integration: (1) Electrical and mechanical integration of single stage generators into high power full scale systems (from 5-10 W to kW/MW range). (2) Materials selection for various parts of full scale systems, (3) Efficient cooling system design (4) Grid integration possibilities WP 3: Implementation (1) In-depth analysis of waste heat sources in partner industries (2) Collection of waste heat to the hot channels of thermoelectric generators (3) Heat Transfer Modeling (4) Installation of prototype generators at industrial sites for pilot tests WP 4: Tests at Industrial Sites (1) Performance and durability tests (with operating time and cycles) of prototype thermoelectric generators at industrial sites (2) Cost analysis for full scale systems (in kW and MW range) for industrial sites based on the findings from WP1 to WP 5: Project Management, Dissemination and Exploitation
