Numascale påvirker EUs utlysningsprogram gjennom delatgelse i ETP4HPC og Prospect m.fl.

The project has covered parts of Numascale?s activities in the European high performance computing (HPC) community over the last three years. The main body for influencing the European Commission?s program for future development in this area is called ETP4HPC (European Technology Platform for High Performance Computing). Numascale participates in this work by attending meetings and reviews of proposals for the Horizon 2020 Programme and other future programmes. The goal for ETP4HPC is to ensure more development of key HPC technologies in Europe such that HPC can be also deployed outside the research labs and big enterprises and even be used by small and medium sized businesses for improving their competitiveness worldwide. The strategic research agenda (SRA) has been updated and can be found at http://www.etp4hpc.eu/en/sra.html. A handbook describing the various European exascale development projects can be found at http://www.etp4hpc.eu/en/news/156-2017-handbook-of-european-hpc-projects.html. The SRA has been a key contribution to develop the European Commission?s ?700 million investment research investment programme. This programme includes plans to improve Europe?s position regarding extreme scaling HPC system technology including delivery of a system to be ranked among the top three of the world?s largest computer systems in 2022. Numascale?s participation in ETP4HPC has resulted in partnering in a EU-funded project called ?ACTICLOUD? that was started in January 2017. Numascale is working directly with one of the partners in ETP4HPC on development of hardware technology that can have impact on the architecture of future HPC systems. This has now led to Bull Atos Technologies supporting Numascale for the BIA grant application ?NexaScale ? High performance processor interconnect for new applications? that was submitted in October. The support from the BIA programme has been essential for Numascaløe?s ability to participate in the ETP4HPC networking activities in the period where the company has been ramped up with very tight economic constraints.

Numascale deltar i ETP4HPC (http://www.etp4hpc.eu) og Prospect (http://www.prospect-hpc.eu) for å påvirke de europeiske forskningsprogrammene med hensyn på norske, interesser, fagfeltets interesser i Europa og egne forretningsmessige interesser for Numascale. En "European Technology Platform" (ETP) ire et forum som ledes av industrien. ETPene fremskaffer industriens syn på forskningsprioriteter og aksjonsplaner for en teknologiområder som er viktige for norsk og europeisk vekst og konkurransedyktighet. EC er forpliktet til å ha en strukturert dialog med ETPene. ETP4HPC har eksistert en tid og har fått gjennomslag for viktige ideer. ETP4HPC har flere arbeidsgrupper og Numascale vil hovedsakelig delta i grupper rundt innspill til EUs forskningsprogram og utlysninger og rundt strategien for små og mellomstore bedrifter. Ellers vil Numascale bidra når det er saker som er i Numacales kjerneområde eller som er viktige for norske partnere. Prospect er en sammenslutning av europeiske bedrifter og forskningsinstitusjoner om arbeider med forsknings og teknologi strategi. Prospect har hatt en viktig rolle i dannelsen av samarbied som ETP4HPC, PRACE JuRoPa II og flere. Numascale var med å starte Prospect. Numascale er godt innarbeidet i begge diss fora og vil fortsette å bidra for norske interesser med prioritet på ETP4HPC.
