The project is about the completion of the translation as well as the publication of Ragnar Andersen's doctoral dissertation "Concordia Ecclesiae: An Inquiry into Tension and Coherence in Philipp Melanchthon's Theology and Efforts for Ecclesiastical Unity, Especially in 1527-1530?" which he defended for the PhD degree at MF Norwegian School of Theology. The dissertation is to some degree revised. The Norwegian Research Council funded 2012 a sample translation of parts of the dissertation, and the dissertation is accepted for publication. This dissertation contributes to the discussion of Melanchthon?s profile as an academic and political agent, as a theologian and negotiator, particularly during the diet at Augsburg. This is of importance as a background for a historical reading and interpretation of the Confessio Augustana. The investigation is also of importance in the dialogue between Evangelical Lutheran and Roman Catholic theologians, suggesting a critical attitude towards a more convergence based form of ecumenism.
