DCS Dive Control Simulator Pale Blue develops a realistic simulator for training of diving supervisors in offshore commercial diving. The solution will be unique, both nationally and internationally. Subsea industry has long sought better and more cost-effective solutions for practical training of diving supervisors. Through workshops, Pale Blue has together with partners (Subsea7, Technip, NYD) planned actions for implementing the simulator. The partnership ensures that the development of the simulator is in line with international market requirements. An overarching goal of the simulator is that it is categorized as a Type A simulator. (ref. IMCA) The aim of the simulator is to enable effective training on procedures, practices and situations in a cost effective manner. The simulator will provide an assessment of individuals in the training courses. The simulator will be a 100% digital solution. Put simply, by reproducing diving supervisor's panel visually using touch screens, gives the user a realistic experience of the control panel and its features. Using touch screens gives the opportunity for better interactivity to the user, to operate the control panels in a natural way and can by means of a finger board control panel functions by pressing buttons, turning knobs and levers, and adjusting parameters. An important advantage of this solution is that a diving supervisor will be training with the use of virtual divers, resulting in a more flexible training sequence. The demand for real divers' participation in this type of training is eliminated, which in turn contributes to a more cost-effective solution. Instructor represents the divers, and can communicate with diving supervisor through headphones and microphone. Communication between diving supervisor and divers is rendered as predefined phrases or through verbal communication. This results in a more realistic approach, as the simulated process appears authentic and dynamic, and thus more realistic process.
