The future industry will meet increasing demands for a non-stop production, accompanied with high flexibility and safety requirements. This implicates an important future market for instant services on support, error diagnostics and reconfiguration of industrial robot systems. PPM and YUJIN will profit from this trend, and develop the "intelligent Versatile Avatar Robot", iVAR, which is an intelligent mobile platform with multimedia communication and a robot arm, providing autonomous or tele-operated, inspection, diagnostics, training and programming related to industrial robot and automation systems. iVAR is especially dedicated to SMEs, that have limited own resources and competence to follow up their automation systems, and thus, needs iVAR; thus "an expert" in-house.

This project description contains the Norwegian part of the Eurstars project, 9692/13/21335/Ae, iVAR, (hereinafter iVAR NO) which will basically focus on - General communication system between iVAR and different devices used in robots- and automation systems in the industry - Man-machine communication between iVAR and local operators - Environment for remotely located expert, to provide remote services to end users of robot-and automation systems in the industry. - R&D to provide basic knowledge and technology to support the above focus areas. - Industrial system testing Thus, iVAR NO, is going to provide in general, the software and communicaiton technology to be integrated with the serivice robot platform, being developed by the Korean project partners.
