Field experiment at Kongsfjordneset, Svalbard looks at effects of warming on the surface layers of the soil microbiota. Microbes, especially fungi, play a major role in nutrient cycling as they are a key factor in decompostiion processes in polar regions. The objective of the experiment is to look at how warming and water avialbility alterations affect growth and activity of the fungi. Soil samples have to be collected for research investigation.
