Location:

The overarching aim of the project is to visit Kongsfjorden on Svalbard to sample leafy liverworts in order to (i) determine the fungal symbioses present in the plants, and (ii) to return live liverworts to the UK for studies into nutrient transfer between fungi and plants, including experimental work at the NanoSIMS facility at the University of Western Australia. The work will benefit the University of Cambridge and the University Centre in Svalbard, by contributing to its masters level course in Arctic mycology (AB-336) and through joint publications and conference presentations. Please note that funding was awarded last year, but could not be accepted due to injury.
