SET9: Participation in EERA Joint Programme on Energy Storage-sub programme Electrochemical Storage

Alternative title: Deltakelse i EERA Joint Programme on Energy Storage-sub programme Electrochemical Storage

Awarded: NOK 0.15 mill.

The main objective is to participate in the EERA Energy Storage Electrochemical storage group representing Norway and SINTEF interest in the field of battery and super capacitor research and development. Sub objectives include: - Contributing the strategically important documents e.g. Roadmaps and participating in the EERA meetings. - Maintain and extend the Norwegian network of parties with interest in the field of electrochemical energy storage. - Continue to develop a strong European network and obtain a good overview of key areas and key partners (industry and R&D) with interest in the field of the energy storage with speical focus on electrochemical storage technology - Actively communicate and enable Norwegian parties to participate in European activities such as relevant proposals and future project. -Communicate and provide inputs to the Research Council of Norway concerning activities related to Energy Storage with special focus on electrochemical energy storage

The project is s a continuation of project 229635 " Set 6 Participation for 2013 in EERA Joint Programme on Energy Storage-sub programme Electrochemical Storage". EERA has established a Joint Programme on Energy Storage with Electrochemical Storage as one of 6 subprograms. This joint program combines representatives from a total of 38 research organisations across Europe. SINTEF Materials & Chemistry have participated in the establishment of the Joint Programme over the past two years through attending and actively participating in the meetings and providing input to strategic documents including the Description of Work (DoW) for the EERA Energy Storage Joint Programme. The sub program Electrochemical storage is divided into four work packages (li-ion batteries, supercapacitors, advanced and alternative power systems and supporting activities. Edel Sheridan (SINTEF) along with Marion Perrin (CEA) took charge of a work package titled "Energy Storage: Advanced and alternative power systems" related to novel battery development (which excluded Li ion batteries). The purpose of this project is to support SINTEF to continue this work and follow, attend meetings and give inputs to important strategic documents. SINTEF is already an established contributor and participator in European project related to the sub program. A close cooperation will be with other Norwegian participants in the SP/JP e.g. IFE.
