Condition monitoring system for oil and gas production systems

Awarded: NOK 0.15 mill.

The project is motivated by direct input from oil and gas operators. This project has a goal of developing a complete system with hardware and software that could be directly integrated into the subsea (and topside) production system through the choke valve (which is always needed in any case). The choke valve main development project by Subsea Chokes International is done in close cooperation with BP and Statoil, and will lead to a new generation valve with significantly improved realiability, operability and lifetime compared to currently available technology. This development project will result in a new type of condition monitoring system that also could be used in more advanced analysis of flow regime and flow conditions, since the vibration detection unit will be directly installed on the choke valve needle, which is in direct contact with the flow. This solution would represent a new configuration/feature, that has never been done before in the industry. The project will be a cooperation between two main companies,- Subsea Chokes International (Norway), Ingeteam (Spain) and a subsupplier Designworks (Norway).
