Semantic Gateway for Decentralized Interoperability of ITS

Idea & Objectives: The recent years mobility service providers invested into mobility solutions that they will be reluctant to replace with new more standard ones to achieve higher interoperability. A feasible way forward could be to make them interoperable with similar systems. For this reason the interoperability conditions need to be mapped and ontology might be elaborated. This ontology should consider not only the services but also the various interoperability barriers raised by the regulatory environments as well as stakeholder drivers and concerns. As base, the ontology elaborated by VICINITY project could be used. Special emphasis should be placed on the mapping of any kind of non-technical barriers (legal, commercial, cultural, political as well as security and privacy). The solution will lead to possibility of unbundling of services from the infrastructure. That opens the door to various innovative players (such as SMEs) to enter the market of mobility services.
