CS2 Climate Services for Climate Solutions

Awarded: NOK 49,999

DNV GL is a partner in this project, In order to build Europes resilience to climate change and leadership to strengthening the global market for climate services, we propose the project CS2: Climate Services for Climate Solutions. The primary objectives of CS2 are: to advance the understanding of which factors and processes enable or constrain the uptake of climate services in supply chains and enable the growth of a global market for user-driven climate services; to provide insight on the different services required by end-users due to their specific needs and decision-making contexts, and to design strategic interventions and recommendations for both climate services purveyors, end-users, and policymakers to overcome constraints, maximise knowledge uptake and enhance the quality of climate services. This project uses the European Roadmap for Climate Services definition of climate services as a starting point, but aims to take it a step further by exploring the uniqueness and specific contexts, demands and constraints of the users of climate services with a focus on the private sector. Through an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approach that includes co-design and co-production with users, CS2 provides a throughout assessment of barriers and enablers for climate services. The project moves beyond traditional barrier studies by focusing on the needs and decision-making contexts of end-users as customers. CS2 places a central focus on end-users? interpretation of their needs, the need for dialogue between end-users and suppliers, and the role of co-production for successful and effective services. The project focuses on specific case studies related to key European Commission adaptation strategy priorities, related to the water, food and energy nexus. The project investigates in-depth case studies in the Energy and Food & Beverage sectors, and assesses the transferability and upscaling of the project findings to other sectors.
