Safe maritime operations under extreme conditions; the Arctic case. SEDNA

The SEDNA consortium will deliver a toolset which will enable the development of safe, efficient and environmentally sensitive maritime activity in the Arctic by infusing operational knowledge in the ice-going ship design process and delivering more accurate information and advanced technology support to navigation. By giving full consideration to the growing body of knowledge about future sea ice coverage, seasonal patterns and predicted maritime activity levels, SEDNA will improve safety of ships and systems supporting thus cost effective maritime operations in the polar region. The project will in addition facilitate further use of Low Flash Point fuels by standardising a process for their safety assessment.
