Strategisk arbeid og deltakelse i Aquaculture Work Group (AWG) under The European Fisheries and Aquaculture Research Organisation (EFARO)

The project is about collaboration and coordination of the strategic work and participation by the three research institutes, Institute of marine research (IMR), NOFIMA and SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture, in the Aquaculture Work Group (AWG) a part of the European Fisheries and Aquaculture research Organisation (EFARO). The European Fisheries and Aquaculture Research Organisation, is an association for the main European Research Institutes involved in Fisheries and Aquaculture research founded in 1989. Today EFARO unites 3000 researchers and research assistants in 23 institutes in 19 European countries. EFARO established in 2016 an Aquaculture Work Group (AWG). Institute of marine research, NOFIMA and SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture are all members of this work group, with Arne Fredheim from SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture as chair. The activities in the project included participation in meetings, preparation for meetings, contribution to strategy documents, public consultations and green papers for the EU commission and other relevant institutions in Europe. Activates in the project also included representation on behalf of the EFARO AWG in official EU meetings. The EFARO AWG launched the vision document "A vision for European aquaculture development in 2030, 2050 and 2100, outlining the main drivers and game changers" may 2017. The purpose of this document is to provide the EU commission with information on the future development of the aquaculture sector in Europe. The vision document har also been used as input for revision of the strategic research agenda of EATiP in 2017.

Sammendrag Denne søknaden omhandler samarbeid og koordinering av strategisk arbeid og deltakelse i European Fisheries and Aquaculture Research Organisations (EFARO) Aquaculture Work Group (AWG) for Havforskningsinstituttet, NOFIMA og SINTEF Fisker og havbruk AS. The European Fisheries and Aquaculture Research Organisation (EFARO) er en organisasjon for de største Europeiske forskningsinstitusjonene innen fiskeri og havbruk. EFARO har 23 medlemer fra 19 Europeiske land og samler mer enn 3000 forskere. EFARO opprettet i 2016 en egen Aquaculture Work Group (AWG), hvor Havforskningsinstituttet, NOFIMA og SINTEF Fisker og havbruk AS alle er medlem. EFARO AWG ledes av Arne Fredheim ved SINTEF Fiskeri og havbruk. Aktiviteter som er planlagt og vil inngå i arbeidet vil være deltakelse på møter i AWG i EFARO, forberedelse til møter hvor relevant, bidrag til utarbeidelse av strategi- og innspillsdokumenter til EU kommisjonen og andre relevante institusjoner i Europa, samt deltakelse på møter i regi av EU kommisjonen på vegne av EFARO AWG. EFARO AWG vil konkret jobbe med å utarbeide et strategidokument "A vision for European aquaculture development in 2030, 2050 and 2100, outlining the main drivers and game changers", som blant annet vil bli brukt som innspillsdokument til EU kommisjonen. Videre vil EFARO AWG i samarbeid med EATiP aktivt bidra i den kommende høringen relatert til European Food Research Area, som p.t. er planlagt lansert med en konferanse 12 October 2016. Alle de tre forskningsinstitusjonene er også medlem av nasjonale næringsklynger slik som NCE Seafood, NCE Aquaculture, Akvarena og den nylig innvilgede NCE AquaTech Cluster med oppstart 1. januar 2017. Dette gir rom for utveksling av synspunkter og innspill, og gjennom koordinering av arbeidet kan man styrke norske interesser innen akvakultur i EU, både for forskning- og næringslivsaktører.
