Completion time saving tool

In collaboration with AkerBP, Toolserv is developing a new method and technology for attaching control lines onto production tubings for oilwells. The method and technology will allow an efficient method for the clamps to be assembled together with the control line. Robot technology will be used to this operation together with new developed equipment.. This will reduce the clamping process of each clamp from about 10 minutes to below 20 seconds. A cost savings of up to 2 MNOK per production well will be achievable. In addition to reducing production time and cost saving, the new technology and method will also greatly reduce the risk associated with attachment of control lines as it eliminates the need for personnel in red zone on drillfloor. The control lines connected to the production tubing send important information from the well to the control room on the rig. Control lines are used to control a wide range of valves and to monitor important information such as temperature and pressure. Traditionally, they are fastened with the clamps manually by personnel using handheld hydraulic and mechanic tools. This work is executed in the red zone, which is an area of increased risk for unwanted incidents such as falling objects or hydrocarbons in air.
