SET 11: New IEA Task ENERGY STORAGE AND CONVERSION BASED ON HYDROGEN

Awarded: NOK 0.22 mill.

The project ENESTOR aims at contributing to creation and execution of a new IEA Task 40 ENERGY STORAGE AND CONVERSION BASED ON HYDROGEN. The task is bringing together 20 countries and 50 international experts in the area of hydrogen based energy storage and conversion. Specific goals include: i) Strengthen IFE's research and development by active collaboration on research activities and common projects with leading actors in the field. ii) Actively attend with presentations meetings, workshops and working groups organized by the IEA Task. iii) Use the network as a platform to form new powerful consortia for future new research and innovation projects on energy storage and conversion in the H2020. iv) Contribute to the policy making influencing focus and topics of future announcements in the EU system assuring that interests of Norwegian participants will be properly accounted and the EU calls will be synchronized with our research interests. v) Publish a review paper in a leading international journal presenting state of the art of the development of the materials of H based energy storage and prepared in collaboration with the partners of IEA Task 40. The project is executed by Institute for Energy Technology.

1. Four meetings of IEA Task 40 have been attended (Italy, China, Belgium, Israel). V.A. Yartys is a leader of the main group of IEA Task 40. Intermetallic hydrides. 2. 6 papers are published. One is a review: Michael Hirscher, Volodymyr A. Yartys , et al. MATERIALS FOR HYDROGEN BASED ENERGY STORAGE - PAST, RECENT PROGRESS AND FUTURE OUTLOOK.// J. Alloys and Compounds, 823, 153548. 3. IFE's research and development is strengthened by active collaboration on common projects with leading actors in the field. This includes H2020 project HYDRIDE4MOBILITY executed with group of Dr. M. Dornheim at HZG in Germany. Involvement of other groups into common research activities obviously assists in increasing Norwegian competence. 4. Furthermore it is a plan to further strengthen a collaboration by applying for new EU funded projects.
