For people with disabilities, something as simple as working out can cause irritations and difficulties due to the lack of necessary equipment. Exero are making a new solution to stay active among disabled which will make it easier to exercise independently and in difficult terrains. The adaptable equipment offered in the market today are often heavy, large and suited for fine terrain. There are few alternatives to choose from and those that exist can be hard to control on your own. Sleds are often used both for summer and winter, but sleds used for summer time lacks steering and brakes. To solve this problem and to offer a new alternative, Exero is developing Spike. Spike introduces a new way of steering, a dependent brake system and the possibilities to stay active in all kinds of terrain. The goal of the project is to commercialize Spike so that people with disabilities can access it through the Norwegian Welfare system, which is Exero's main buying customer in Norway. To be able to commercialize our first product, the funding from the Norwegian Research Council will contribute to speed up the development and make it possible to produce a small batch and prepare for full scale production. This will able us to enter the market and brand Spike to potential users. The funding will also make it possible to market the product outside Norway and create a brand within the market of helping aids. To succeed with the project, Exero has a close affiliation with the academic community within NTNU in Trondheim. They contribute to the project through knowledge and expertise within entrepreneurship and product development. Exero has also a close cooperation with important actors within the market for assistance devices, product development, sports industry, entrepreneurship and sales.
