Promote mental health and wellbeing in Teachers across Europe

Awarded: NOK 59,999

Create an evidence-based holistic intervention, with high user involvement, to promote well-being, good mental health and retention in teachers, as well as reduce teacher burnout in public and private schools at high school/upper secondary school level. Empirical data from both developed and developing countries indicate that teacher burnout is an international epidemic. Teacher burnout increase the risk for individual and societal adverse consequences such as leaving the profession, low productivity, high sickness absenteeism or presentism, mental health disorders (i.e., anxiety and depression) as well as related societal turnover, health and welfare costs. Ultimately, an effective intervention to prevent teacher burnout in upper secondary school also will promote a good learning environment.
