The overall vision of the MaxiPlan project is to prototype, pilot and commercialise our innovative product MaxiPlan, an aquaculture feed comprised of nauplii from two distinct species of acorn barnacle. It contains a major fraction of omega-3 fatty acids which promotes better fish and shrimp larval development than typical live feeds. Our MaxiPlan consist of small planktonic crustacean nauplii from the class Maxillopoda which is a major prey for wild fish larvae. Traditionally, live nauplii have a very limited shelf life, which has limited their commercial use. However, we process our nauplii into two sister products CryoMax and SteriMax, containing cryopreserved and sterile inert nauplii respectively. CryoMax is tailored to marine fish and other species demanding live swimming prey, while SteriMax is an inexpensive alternative for poor swimming species such as shrimp to easily catch their prey. Users directly raise live feeds on site by thawing CryoMax, washing and leaving them to revitalise in sea water, or apply SteriMax directly to shrimp culture tanks. This process provides the nauplii with prolonged shelf-life, with CryoMax having unlimited shelf life on liquid nitrogen and SteriMax can be dry stored for over 2 years. The aim is to move our current prototype technology to full commercialisation onto the global markets. The MaxiPlan solution has a major market potential compared to current state-of-the-art solutions. To increase our commercial success and impact, we have created a Strategic Business Plan as a detailed roadmap, describing all necessary activities we need to undertake to ensure a successful market introduction. Now we seek to develop our Commercialisation Plan, which will form an important part of the final Business Innovation Plan, to be created in this Phase 2 project. As the envisaged Phase 2 project builds upon a validated prototype technology, the majority of our efforts will be focused on piloting and commercialisation activities:
