TRANSMAT will create a highly visible, open, transparent, and scalable digital B2B platform for material modelling with emphasis on challenges in manufacturing processes. The TRANSMAT platform will differ from existing platforms by being very wide, spanning a large range of spatial and temporal scales (quantum, micro, meso, macro), multiphysics, many different material properties, many different materials, and many different manufacturing processes. This will be achieved by having an open market place, such that a large number of people and organisations can contribute, which will lead to a much faster scaling of the platform into new domains and with improved selection of models, software (apps) and workflows. The platform with its framework for standardization and translation between different scales, physics, and domains, DSS, KBS, data analytics and open marketplace for software & services will remove barrier to using material models by lowering the learning curve and reducing cost to industries. The platform will make it possible for materials producers, product manufacturers, academic & research organizations, and standards setting bodies to efficiently get access to a vast amount of information, improving reaction time to changes in feedstock, market needs, and regulatory demands. The platform will also have an Open Market Place for software, workflow chains, and services (material experts, software developers, infrastructure for on-demand laboratory experiments and HPC). This will promote high user/developer involvement leading to implementation of many more materials models, translators, workflow chains, manufacturing processes, and calculated results and test examples. It will also promote larger and more efficient interaction between developers and end users. Different payment options will be supported: free-of-charge, short- and long term lease, perpetual license. Group funding and Crowd Funding will also be supported, a huge benefit especially for SMEs.
