Functional Metagenomics 2019 (FMG2019)

Awarded: NOK 99,999

Functional Metagenomics (FMG) is a growing research field within biotechnology, aiming at functional description of the microbial diversity in nature and developing and employing dedicated tools for a more efficient function-based screening of microbial metagenomes for exploitable functions, like new industrial enzymes and new bioactive compounds for medical applications. Functional Metagenomics 2019 is the 3rd open conference of an international interest group of researchers around the globe, 'Functional Metagenomics International', involving in FMG R&D. The conference aims at promoting the exchange of research results between internationally leading research groups and companies in the field of FMG, as well as networking for the purpose of establishing new, and strengthening existing national and international collaborations. Functional Metagenomics 2019 will take place at Lian, Trondheim, Norway, June 16-19, 2019. It will be organized by SINTEF Industry, Department of Biotechnology and Nanomedicine and NTNU, Department of Biotechnology and Food Science, together with other SINTEF staff, sponsors and personnel at the meeting venue. A strong international Scientific Organizing Committee of renowned scientists will ensure a high-quality scientific conference program with lectures covering the entire spectrum of FMG. In addition to the keynote lecture on the opening day and 36 planned oral presentations from conference participants, the conference program will include poster sessions and an exhibition of commercial suppliers of FMG related consumables and services, as well as extended breaks, joint lunches and dinners, and a half-day social event for extensive networking between the participants.
