In cultural heritage institutions, the quantity of digital content is growing exponentially, together with the potential of new digital technology performance. This large amount of data presents an increasing challenge of management to curators. Work in this area should enable heritage institutions scholars and practioners to fully use the potential of digital technologies for managing, studying, conserving, restoring, making accessible, interlinking, disseminating and preserving their collections. Our project will focus on the cultural and historic memories from the audio-visual domain (photo, film, video and audio) and from the "assets" domain. Assets in this context can be historical buildings, objects or artefacts as well as pieces of art and cultural remains which are going to be analysed, (rediscovered), digitized, enhanced, revitalized, shared and preserved for future generations. The systematic research activities carried out in the project will include identification of the sources available to produce true 3D representations, where archaeology, AI and cross-cultural studies will be crosscutting underlying themes for the foreseen R&D. We have successfully secured a consortium with a clear balance of: Universities, Industry, Innovative SMEs and non-governmental organisations. (Balanced mix, for a RIA call, between R&D labs (3), universities (2)s, SME (2), industry (1) and not for profit organizations (1), with a diverse European representation (DE, NO, IT, GR,CH, SK, ES & CY), also an inherent requirement in RIA.
