HI-DRIVE

Awarded: NOK 79,999

The overall concept of the HI-DRIVE project is to address the different challenges towards the deployment of higher driving automation levels for passenger cars in Europe. In addition, HI-DRIVE will create awareness and knowledge about higher driving automation to general public. Highly automated driving functions involve level 4 and level 5 vehicles. Level 4 refers to high automation, where the automated systems perform all driving tasks with no involvement from the driver, while level 5 refers to self-driving vehicles. The call considers large-scale, cross-border demonstration of highly automated driving functions for passenger cars. Hi-DRIVE will in cooperation with several leading vehicle manufacturers and suppliers across Europe provide vehicles equipped with highly automated systems at Level 4 and 5 for cross-border demonstrations across Europe, in order to ensure that these systems are compatible and interoperable at European level. Data gathered from cross-border demonstrations will provide the foundation for technical, safety, environmental and socioeconomic impact evaluations. The project also gathers data related to user acceptance and surveys among general public, which will also be used in impact assessments and in addition provide better knowledge regarding higher automation levels. The outcome of the project e.g. in terms of technical and safety assessments (cyber security, accidents, etc) and the socioeconomic analysis can serve as an important support tool for the authorities in their decision making regarding higher automation levels for passenger cars in Europe.
