Summary EIC søknad: It is a fact that more than 50% of the world’s energy use goes unused and is discarded as leftover heat, most often in the form of steam. Recovering parts of that waste heat and making it again useful represents one of the most important potentials for contributing to decarbonization and to the circular economy. In the H2020 SME instrument project “Hot chips” Tocircle has adapted its patented rotary vane machine design to the requirements of Waste Heat Recovery (WHR) in heat intensive industrial production. The innovation aims at industrialising and commercialising Waste Heat Recovery by way of a disruptive, novel business model, offering WHR as an integrated Energy Performance Service (EPS). This project complements the original “Hot Chips” project by establishing an industrial supply chain and a commercial market channel for WHR applications based on Tocircle’s core technology. The project aims at seeking equity by the EIC Accelerator blended finance instrument for the industrialisation and commercialisation consequent to “Hot Chips” , and for rolling out the novel business model for WHR services. The financing should be sufficient for bringing this business endeavour to break-even.
