Prosjektetablering og posisjonering mot Horisont Europa 2023-2024 ved Veterinærinstituttet

The Norwegian Veterinary Institute (NVI) strategy for 2020 - 2023 focuses on the importance of good animal and human health, as well as healthy and safe food. The strategy also encompasses increased participation in programmes funded by the EU in order to achieve the UN sustainable development goals. The PES funding will be key in increasing our participation. The NVI has developed an action plan covering five areas to ensure that the NVI strategic focus on Horizon Europe is converted into action: 1. Operational excellence 2. Scientific connectivity 3. International engagement 4. Influential voice 5. Excellence in science The following actions will receive a particular strong focus: - The research administrative staff will arrange/participate thematic seminars for each research section, inviting representatives from both private sector and public management for discussions on how to best approach certain calls (focus on 2023) - The research sections are asked to actively participate in all relevant thematic meetings hosted by the RCN. This to observe any development in the scientific field, but also to front NVI related priorities - NVI organises a seminar on Horizon Europe SRIA in the winter of 2023/2024 - NVI researchers are challenged to participate in international thematic networks within their own scientific fields, including COST "Pilot projects" mechanism was implemented in 2021 at NVI and will be continued in 2023. NVI researchers submit short project descriptions subject to internal evaluation. A totalt of 5 MNOK will be awarded to projects starting in 2023. Pilot projects will help research concepts/projects with great potential to get more substance in order to increase chances of success in Horizon Europe. This incentive is planned continued in future years.

VIs visjon er "God helse hos dyr, fisk og mennesker". Instituttets strategi for perioden 2020-2023 bygger på FNs bærekraftsmål og har et spesielt fokus på viktigheten av god dyre- og menneskehelse, samt sunn og trygg mat. For 2023 er det særskilt fokus på å fremme betydningen av god dyre- og fiskehelse, mattrygghet og miljø i et Én helse-perspektiv som premiss for å nå FNs bærekraftsmål. Instituttet har i 2023 et strategisk forankret og særskilt mål om å videreutvikle internasjonalt forsknings- og utviklingssamarbeid og å forsterke vår deltakelse i HEU. Aktiv deltakelse i HEU står sentralt for at instituttet skal kunne bidra til oppnåelsen av FNs bærekraftsmål, og strategien for perioden 2024 - 2028 - som er under utarbeiding - vil derfor ha et fortsatt omfattende fokus på HEU. Ansøkning til HEU krever kompetanse både hos våre forskere og hos vårt administrative personell. PES-midlene fra Norges Forskningsråd vil være et nøkkelinstrument for å heve vår kompetanse på EU-utlysninger slik at vi øker sjansen for deltakelse i prosjekter finansiert under HEU-programmet. Instituttet anerkjenner også viktigheten av å prioritere tiltak for å øke synligheten både til enkeltforskere men også bestemte faglige tema, for å øke sannsynligheten for tildeling av HEU-finansierte prosjekter. Slike tiltak vil inkludere å delta i sentrale internasjonale forum og på vitenskapelige møter. For å øke vår interne HEU-kompetanse vil vi også gjennomføre "lokale" tiltak (seminarer og andre arrangement) og arbeide for å øke motivasjonen for ansøkning til HEU.
