As the global energy landscape undergoes a fundamental transformation towards renewable energy sources and decarbonization, the role of energy storage systems is becoming increasingly critical. The development of advanced battery materials and their integration into the electrical grid infrastructure presents a significant opportunity to optimize grid services and address the challenges associated with intermittent renewable energy sources. This proposal outlines a plan to research and develop new battery materials and explore their potential applications in enhancing grid services. By optimizing battery chemistries based on specific grid services and introducing new services tailored to these materials, we aim to create a more resilient, sustainable, and efficient energy grid.
