Nye løsninger for festing av jernbaneskinner - FEST

The requirements for future railway is many including less noise, withstand greater loads, improved reliability, lower vibration, higher speed and longer lifetime. The requirements are different on the basis of climatic conditions and we aim to find universal products that can withstand the rigors. In addition, increasing demands and goals of higher safety and uninterrupted operation during all seasons and conditions. Installation of railway track is still a demanding and precise work even if much today are performed by machines. Despite this entails working part manual lifting which is done by manual labour. The project focuses on developing new types of products and components in sustainable plastic materials with long life, which increases the performance of the described. In addition, the use of such materials gives lighter work, reduced corrosion and improved signal function. Products in plastic and composite material are already in use in several areas but the potential is greater. For areas such as performance and security requirements these products demands an extensive R & D activity, laboratory and practical testing.

Prosjektet skal ta for seg utvikling av nye produkter i polymermaterialer (plast) som skal forbedre sikkerhet og miljømessige sider (aspekter) ved bygging og drift av jernbanelinjer verden over. Målet er å redusere støy, vibrasjoner og bedre de elektriske isolasjonsegenskapene slik at ikke tog stanser på grunn av signalfeil. Produktene skal være korrosjonsbestandige og lettere å bære for de som skal montere. I tillegg skal produktene tilpasses krevende miljøer med høy fuktighet, tørt klima og ekstrem varme eller kulde. Prosjektet vil bli koordinert med utviklingsløp for Biobes kunde Pandrol Rail Fastenings Ltd. (Pandrol) i UK, som er verdens største leverandør av jernbaneinnfestingssystemer. For å teste ut arbeidsform, prosess og prøveprodukter vil Biobe AS samarbeide tett med Pandrol. I tillegg skal man i prosjektperioden også kontakte andre produsenter innen samme marked. Det er også forventninger om at teknologien kan benyttes til produkter i andre markeder. SINTEF vil spille en sentral rolle i prosjektet og forestå det aller meste av FoU arbeidet. Sintef har bidratt tidligere innen samme felt og har en verdifull kompetanse.
