ERC Resubmission: Exploring and Theorizing Indigenous Museums

This project will be the first focused study of indigenous museums. It asks,what are indigenous museums? Are there analogies among these institutions that justify the common appellation? And conversely, in what do they differ: can we get a better idea of the diversity within this category? The project aims to comparatively investigate international case-studies of indigenous museums (prospective case studies include Taiwan, Norway Kenya and Belize) in order to produce research outcomes that will be the first to map, critically discuss, and theorize the concept of indigenous museums.
