CHARM was established in 2011 with financial support from the Norwegian Research Council in order to meet the need for research within rehabilitation services increasingly characterized by complex needs of persons with disabilities and service systems. The mission of CHARM is to improve the quality of care of persons with disabilities in a life course perspective by conducting high quality research on (re)habilitation policies, models and services. CHARM should represent a national network of core milieus for research excellence and user collaboration, illuminating the key challenges in terms of capacity, quality, continuity and predictability in rehabilitation services. Furthermore, in collaboration with the international research community, we plan to develop innovative models to meet these challenges in the provision of (re)habilitation services. Aims 1. Improve the quality of (re)habilitation services research through evaluations and innovative approaches aimed at improved cooperation between the service users/clients, the service providers and the local community. 2. Increase research collaboration with the service users, and develop knowledge of the premises and effects of such collaboration in (re)habilitation research. 3. Increase research competency in (re)habilitation services research in the primary care sector, and between service levels and sectors across professional and administrative borders. 4. Build a resource base of innovative models and methods for service integration within the field of (re)habilitation and contribute to implementation of effective models.
