Læreplanfornying - Forskning på undervisning av teknologi i et bærekraftsperspektiv.

This research project will explore and explain the following questions: In which way can inquiry- based teaching and learning be used in the teaching on the topic of energy technology in a sustainable perspective, and which challenges do the students undergo while working with renewable energy technology? My motivation for this project is to investigate the potential impact inquiry based teaching will have on the students? learning process. Inquiry Based Science Teaching is for instance recognized as asking questions, making systematic examinations, evaluate evidence and argue for possible solutions. This project is a part of the research project ?Education for Sustainable Development in practise? (ESD in practise) at NMBU. The curriculum renewal, which is being implemented from the fall of 2020, makes an explicit link between technology and sustainable development. The curriculum emphasize a foundation for handling the challenges of interdisciplinary and complex systems, being taught, are essential aspects of the curriculum. At the same time the objective is to make the students feel involved and experience ?it matters? which are essential elements in implementing the intensions of the curriculum renewal. Using solar energy, the students can do inquiries and build appropriate solar cell ? or solar collector systems. This may give the students a unique opportunity to comprehend this kind of technology. The project will apply a design based research (DBR) approach where I will work together with my colleagues developing an inquiry- based setup in sustainable energy. This setup will be designed and used in the classroom and research will be presented in articles. My goal is that the research field as well as colleagues will be given the opportunity to use didactical design principles which can contribute to more learning for students in the field of technology for sustainable development.

En utdanning for bærekraftig utvikling (UBU) kjennetegnes ved målet om å utvikle bærekraftige holdninger og handlingskompetanser hos elever. I dette doktorgradsprosjektet skal jeg forske på elevene og deres utforskende arbeidsmåter i teknologi i et bærekraftsperspektiv, det antas at slike arbeidsmåter kan støtte elevers handlingskompetanse og reflekterte holdninger. Denne delen av prosjektet vil utvikles i samarbeid med Akershus fylkeskommune/Viken, avdelingene for plan, næring og miljø og videregående opplæring gjennom å prøve ut fornybar energi-teknologi, og dermed også skape energi-bevissthet i skolen. PhD-avhandlingen skal bli artikkelbasert, med tre artikler og en overbyggende kappe. Hvert av forskningsspørsmålene skal munne ut i en internasjonal tidsskriftsartikkel. Mitt prosjekt inngår i som en del av forskningsprosjektet "UBU i praksis" der det overordnede målet er at skoler og lærerutdanning sammen skal utvikle en praksis som fremmer utdanning for bærekraftig utvikling. I "UBU i praksis" vil det derfor være fokus på å utforske hvordan skolen (elever, lærere, ledelse og andre kollegaer) kan utvikle et fokus på utdanning for bærekraftig utvikling på hele skolen. Forskning på UBU fremmer betydningen av å utvikle elevenes verdier og holdninger, kritisk tenkning, kreativitet, empati, optimisme, systemforståelse, handlingskompetanse, og evne til å forstå og handle i forhold til komplekse problemstillinger som er sentrale for å møte fremtidens utfordringer knyttet til bærekraftig utvikling (de Haan 2010, Mogensen & Schnack 2010, UNESCO 2014, Sterling 2009, Jegstad & Sinnes 2015). Prosjektet "UBU i praksis" forsker på hvordan skoler og lærerutdanning sammen kan utvikle disse kompetansene hos elevene ved at de blir aktive deltakere i utforskende UBU-prosjekter på egen skole.
