Spreading BuildERS' findings among Norwegian stakeholders

SPREAD addressed the results and recommendations from the Horizon 2020 project BuildERS (2019-2022), focusing on strengthening societal resilience, especially among the most vulnerable groups, in the face of disasters. Viewing vulnerability as a dynamic and situation-dependent phenomenon, the project developed practical tools and solutions to support actors involved in emergency preparedness planning and improve society's ability to handle crises. The dissemination-oriented SPREAD project, funded by the Research Council of Norway, aimed to bring BuildERS' findings and insights to a broader Norwegian audience through workshops, a conference, and a Norwegian report. These activities resulted in the development of measures adapted to the Norwegian context, focusing on improving preparedness for vulnerable groups and enhancing societal overall resilience. The report discussed the nature of vulnerability and resilience, based on existing research and BuildERS' definitions, highlighting the need for an intersectional approach to vulnerability assessment.

The main purpose of SPREAD is to disseminate knowledge about the main findings from the H2020 BuildERS project that will benefit civil protection agencies, industrial actors, governmental bodies (incl. municipalities), and non-governmental organizations in Norway. We plan to do this by: 1) Establishing a stakeholder forum consisting of actors involved in disaster prevention and management in Norway. 2) Translating the BuildERS findings to Norwegian language and context, co-creating lessons relevant to the Norwegian context together with the national stakeholders. 3) Conducting 4 workshops where we invite members of the stakeholder forum, where we present relevant findings and discuss how Norwegian actors can learn from these findings. 4) Producing a report summarizing the discussions in the four workshops 5) Organizing an open final conference where we present the main findings from BuildERS project and the lessons learned from the four workshops
