Electron Microscope

Tildelt: kr 1,3 mill.

The Electron Microscopy Laboratory in the Department of Morphology, Genetics and Aquatic Biology is a facility servicing the research needs of the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science and the wider veterinary environment at Adamstuen. This multi-user r esearch facility, particularly the transmission electron microscope (Philips EM208S), is in continual use and many research groups are able to benefit from the equipment, techniques and experience of the Laboratory. However, the dark room and much of the specimen preparation equipment, which underpin the activities of the Laboratory, are outdated or in need of replacement. Also, if the Laboratory is to remain attractive for research groups, new techniques need to be made available. The modernization of the laboratory will be undertaken by the replacement of the dark room through the upgrading of digital imaging equipment to a high quality video camera, renewal and automation of specimen preparation equipment and the establishment of cryo-electron microscopy.
