Alzheimer's disease in science, politics and everyday life

Tildelt: kr 2,3 mill.

The ways of understanding Alzheimer's disease are changing rapidly as it becomes an issue of globalised science as well as politics. The project sets out to investigate these in the three locations of science, politics and everyday life. It asks how vario us versions of Alzheimer's are constituted in these arenas; how bodies, individuals, interests and collectives are constituted differently there in; and how boundaries between what is biologically given and what is open to medical intervention are drawn a nd redrawn. The project goes on to analyse how it is that different versions of Alzheimer's co-exist and interact; the nature of the relations between them; how power is produced in these relations; and the particular role played by scientifically mediate d versions of Alzheimer's. With the cooperation of biomedical and clinical research centres and Demensforbundet, participant observation, interviews and document analyses will be conducted.
