Nonlinear partial differential equations: theory, numerics, and applications

Tildelt: kr 7,0 mill.

The intention is to create an internationally leading research group at the intersection of theoretical and applied/computational mathematics, which will derive new mathematical and numerical results for nonlinear partial differential equations, with a strong emphasis on equations motivated by applications in porous media flow/enhanced oil recovery/solid-liquid separation processes and finance. Excellent conditions for research training (3 PhD and 2 postdocs) will be provided by organizing worksh ops, inviting guests, and in general by strong interaction with leading international and national groups on nonlinear analysis, applied mathematics, and relevant applications. The goal is contribute significantly to the development of research in part ial differential equations in Norway and to collaborate/support a variety of applied mathematics oriented research groups in Norway, which are in need of strong expertise in theoretical, computational, and modeling aspects of partial differential eq uations.
