ARENA - Strategisk universitetsprogram

ARENA - Centre for European Studies is a research centre studying the dynamics of the evolving European systems of governance. ARENA aims at being among the forefront milieus internationally in research on political integration in Europe as well as a nati onal node for European studies in Norway. ARENA was established as a centre at the University of Oslo in 2004, partly financed by strategic contributions from the Research Council, the University of Oslo and The Foreign Ministry for 2003 - 2007. The centr e is building on the competence established through the completed ten-year research programme under the Research Council of Norway. By the beginning of 2004 the academic focus at ARENA is divided into two main areas: 1) "Institutional dynamics and the Tra nsformation of European Politics" and 2) "Citizenship and Democratic Legitimacy in the European Union"
