Pulsed Laser Deposition Laboratory

We seek a grant to acquire a Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) facility for fundamental growth studies of perovskite epitaxial thin films, and thin film production of technologically relevant oxides for use in novel devices. Access to such apparatus at NTNU/S INTEF on a regular basis will improve materials research possibilities and be of importance for the development of novel nanostructured materials. This laboratory will enable direct growth of epitaxial nanodots and nanowires of various perovskite oxides, both for fundamental studies of their physical properties and for future nanoelectronics. Moreover, this instrumentation complements and expands the existing thin film infrastructure in Trondheim, and is of importance to ongoing NANOMAT nationally coordin ated projects, e.g. Oxides for Future Information and Communication Technology.
