Frankrike - Biochemistry and distribution of lipids in the Arctic Plankton Community:

Three objectives will be at the base of the project : * Evaluate the relationship between the seasonal changes in taxonomic as well as biochemical composition of primary producers/protozoans and food availability both in absolute terms (chlorophyll and ca rbon concentrations) and in terms of biochemical quality of lipid (EPA, DHA, choline, etc.) and protein. * Link these seasonal changes to the reproductive and development strategies of the major calanoid species (C. glacialis). * Determine variability in the structure and energy transfer towards higher trophic levels (carnivorous species) in the marine pelagic system of Kongsfjorden.
