USA - TECHNOLOGY SUPPORTED DELIVERY MODELS FOR BEHAVIORAL FAMILY INTERVENTIONS (NST-BILAT III)

Tildelt: kr 0,10 mill.

Nontraditional technology supported approaches to health service delivery are receiving increased attention in order to overcome barriers to treatment and prevention. However, innovative telemedicine and ehealth applications often spring from common sense notions of how to increase access to, or the effectiveness of, clinical practices without theoretical rationales and/or empirical evidence to guide the design, implemention and outcome assessment. In this pre-project, Norwegian centre for telemedicine ( NST), Oregon Research Institute (ORI) and University of Tromsø (UiTø) are joining forces to develop longterm collaboration at the crossroads of telemedicine and behavioral family interventions. The focus is upon theoretically and empirically founded home- based service delivery models in child mental health and pediatrics. It is expected that this work will have relevance to other groups in need of similar care and support (e.g. families with members who suffer from dementia). ORIs expert in behavioral fa mily interventions Dr. Ted Taylor will work with NST and UiTø to address mutually relevant issues, develp a joint project proposal with US and Norwegian funding, contribute to a symposium on the topic, outline relevant colloquies for UiTøs Telemedicine M aster program, and a joint publication.
