USA - Scientific seminar in Oslo with participants from Johns Hopkins Medical School and Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo

Tildelt: kr 0,15 mill.

The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Oslo will organise a scientific seminar in Oslo in 2006 on the subjects of neurobiology, cardiology, and cancer research, and has invited fellow colleagues from Johns Hopkins University. The seminar is a based on the existing Agreement of Cooperation between the two institutions (signed in 2003) and will be a follow up on our successful visit to Johns Hopkins University in March 2004 and April 2005. We hope that it will be a step forward in the mutual efforts t o consolidate the cooperation agreement as well as it will be an opportunity to broaden the links between our researchers. In 2004 the Faculty arranged a highly appreciated two-day visit at Johns Hopkins University Medical School for a group of researcher s from the Faculty. This has resulted in mutual interest for pursuing the contacts in order to develop common projects within the frame of the agreement between our two institutions. We have identified several collaborative projects between and the accomp anying list shows the names of the senior scientists on both sides and their area of research. Our aim is to achieve a beneficial combination of senior and younger researchers, and we have therefore invited the identified senior researchers (or another se nior person from the same group) from Johns Hopkins Medical School and one accompanying junior researcher. The Faculty of Medicine will cover all travel- and accommodation expenses for these participants. The program for the seminar will be one day of foc used scientific sessions with contributions from both parties (probably both platform presentations and posters) and a second day with lab visits and group meetings to promote development of collaborative projects. Details of the program will be worked ou t later.
