Canada - Signal Processing Collaboration between UniK and University of Manitoba, Canada

This is a preproject where the main goal is to write a project proposal in signal processing (telecommunications) and to submitt this in 2006 where University of Manitoba, Canada and UniK - University Graduate Center will be partners of the main project. Today, no collaboration exist, and in this preproject we want to establish this by writing the project proposal together. To help to achieve this goal, Are Hjørungnes will be sent to University of Manitoba for two weeks and there the partners will work in tensively with the project proposal and also work with signal processing problems together. In the project description (see attachment), we have pointed out some possible directions of research already. By establishing this research project, we will try t o get fundings for long term collaboration in the future which facilitates mobility of master students, post docs, Ph.D. student, and professors. Norway should increase its activity within telecommunication and this project will help in achieving this goa l. UniK has an international strategy and this project will strengthen international collaboration. In the area of signal processing, many inventions have the potential of being comercialized. If our invensions have comercial value, we will seek for paten ts and look at the possibility of initializing companies based on the results found in the main project.
