HandOn - Hybrid Acquisition in a New Domain of ``Oversetting'' from Norwegian

The project will build on the architecture established in the LOGON project, and consider various extensions and possibilities for better and more comprehensive systems. It will in particular extend the vocabulary and domain considerably, and evaluate th e results and the costs of the adaptations. It will consider ways of refining the treatment of lexical ambiguity, in particular in the Norwegian lexicon. It will experiment with the use of the LOGON architecture for translating from Norwegian into Japan ese and between English and Japanese. On the background of these experiences we will try to plan for future research activities together with colleagues in Europe, USA and Japan for hybrid machine translation.
