Leif Eriksson mobility program: Value Creating Board Exchange 2008-2009

Tildelt: kr 0,13 mill.

I plan to spend my sabbatical 2008-2009 to develop further the possibilities we have got from the "Value Creating Board" research program. This will be done by spending the period July 2008 till June 2009 with researchers in other countries. I will this year have a base at Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, but I will use the opportunity also to be at other universities. The "Value Creating Board" research program has received considerable international attentio n, and at the Strategic Management Society's Annual meeting in Vienna 2006 it was highly praised in the keynote speech of the conference. Scholars from USA, Europe and other parts of the world has thus also taken initiatives for various types of follow up and replication studies, joint authorships and seminars and teaching activities. I want to spend my sabbatical to utilize some of these possibilities. a) My first objective is to contribute to at least one replication study using US data. A stay at San Diego State University will have this as a main target. Visits may also be needed to universities other places, e.g. Texas A&M University, University of Texas in El Paso and to Nova SouthEastern University in Gainesville. b) My second objective is to wri te at least two scientific articles targeted for top tier journals. This will be done with colleagues from Arizona State University, but I have also initiated some publication contacts with colleagues from Texas A&M University, University of Minnesota and Case Western University. c) The third objective is to develop new ideas and perspectives through scholars working in related areas, and thus to "develop" important ideas and ties important for future efforts. I have a possibility to spend some time at No rthwestern University.
