EVITA-eVitenskap

The Seventh International Conference on Mathematical Methods for Curves and Surfaces

Tildelt: kr 99 999

During the conference approximately 120 talks will be given, including 9 invited planary talks. As a part of the conference we have also asked 8 researchers from around the world to organize minisymposia on selected topics. The invited speakers and minisy mposia organizers are selected based on input from an international scientific commitee. The six previous conferences were held in Oslo (1988), Biri (1991), Ulvik (1994), Lillehammer (1997), Oslo (2000) and Tromsø (2004). The last conference in Tromsø h ad approximately 150 participants from more than 20 countries and we expect the same number of participants in 2008. This conference series in Norway is also a part of a European conference series organized in collaboration with the research community in France. The previous conference in France took place in Avignon in 2006, and the next will be held in 2010. We also collaborates with SIAM (Society of Industrial and Applied Matematics) in USA. Conference topics are (here in aphabetic order): Algebraic a nd Differential Geometry, Applications in Engineering, Geosciences, Medicine, Biology, Architecture, Art, etc., Computational geometry, Computational topology, Computer aided design and manufacturing, Computer graphics and visualisation, Computer Vision a nd Image-based Modeling, Curve and surface design, Finite elements and NURBS, Image and signal processing, Interpolation and smoothing, Mesh generation, Radial basis functions, Reverse engineering, Scattered data modelling, Splines and algorithms in appro ximation theory, Subdivision, Wavelets and multi-resolution methods. The conference covers important parts of the eVITA-program, in particular the development of theories, new models, methods, algorithms and software for data- and computing intensive sc ientific and industrial applications.
