Long term energy market equilibriums and the effect of new investments

Tildelt: kr 0,25 mill.

In the future introduction of renewable energy sources will be critical to achieve sustainability, but energy systems will still have to rely on both the new sources and traditional sources like nuclear power and hydrocarbons. We promote analytical models to provide decision support for energy systems that take a holistic view across energy sources, energy carries, production technologies and different sectors. In order two find optimal strategies to phase in new energy sources and technologies in the bes t possible ways, we need models that predict effects of incentives and market design both in terms of investments and in term of short term effects like market prices, quota prices, regional and global export and emissions. We plan to a send proposal fo r a full research project to Renergi around these topics which will be given preliminary study in the pre-project through workshops and cooperation: - Two-stage stochastic market equilibrium models (NTNU and University of Maryland) -Design of stochasic energy market model (SEFAS & JGCRI) -Adaption of global climate model (JGRCI) -Governance and policy instruments (Prosus and university of Maryland)
