The scientific objectives as stated by NORUSCA including multi-site* spectral observations of aurora and airglow, morphology and temporal dynamics in context of ionospheric convection, and real time exchange of data during radar and rocket campaigns are a ll items that will be addressed by this application too. We just continue the work already started. In addition, we aim to conduct: 1. Multi-site all-sky spectral imaging of aurora and airglow. 2. Calibration of all-sky cameras. 3. Visualization of au rora in 3D. 4. Reconstruction of auroral energy precipitation (Triangulation) 5. Real time determination of location and size of auroral oval. 6. Investigation of optical emission effects from the SPEAR radar 7.The list can easily be continued. Key Act ivity for the application 1) Calibration: The increasing number of low light optical instruments operated in Svalbard for monitoring auroras and airglow phenomena emphasize the need for establishing accurate calibration routines of international standar d. We therefore propose to continue our yearly calibration workshops at the calibration facility at UNIS in Longyearbyen. 2) Dural site all-sky observations: Installation of 2 identical state of the art all-sky imagers at KHO and BAB in order to perfor m 3D reconstruction of aurora and particle precipitation calculations. 3) Space weather now casting: We have sufficient expertise and global contacts to make a 'now cast' of the size and location of the auroral oval. We can deliver this service by combi ning data from satellites and our ground-based data chain. 4) Artificial aurora: We aim to do triangulation of optical emissions from artificial auroras from Longyearbyen and Barentsburg with an existing PGI camera and receiver for satellite radio tomog raphy during the yearly winter SPEAR campaign * Multi - site means in this context observations from KHO (Longyearbyen), (BAB) Barentsburg, and Ny-Ålesund.
