Photomedicine and photobiology of vitamin D

The main objective is direct measurements of vitamin D3 formation in vitro under sunlight and artificial UV sources in parallel with measurements of vitamin D3 generation in healthy volunteers using "vitamin D dosimeter" and additional physical instrument s. The most recent in vitro methods, which will include experiments in modeling media with serum proteins, allow to make a next significant step in understanding of vitamin D3 synthesis in vivo. The results obtained will be useful for comparative analysis of different types of UV radiation sources and for prognosis of UV exposure conditions for obtaining the optimal vitamin D3 status.
