Ruhrgas Scholarship - Motivation and plans

I hereby apply for the Ruhrgas scholarship for my exchange semester at the University of Mannheim. Motivation After living four months in Freiburg and Braunschweig in 2007, where I attended language courses, I had no doubts that I wanted to study in G ermany. At this point I was studying for my Bachelor in Journalism in Norway. I had the possibility to travel while I studied, and therefore chose to live in Germany to learn the language better. After finishing my studies, I started studying Economics at NHH to have a specialized field within my work as a journalist ? and to have the options for other jobs in the future. I chose the University of Mannheim because it is a leading institution in the field of business and economics. Also the feedbacks f rom students from NHH who have studied there are without exceptions positive. Engaging professors, interesting courses and perspectives and knowledge that they wouldn?t get without the exchange semester in Mannheim are some of the messages I have gotten. Some of the courses I am attending at the University are also strongly recommended by students who have been in Mannheim. Management in a globalized world is an example, led by one of Germany's most respected economists, Professor Dr.-Ing. Hans-Olaf Hen kel. The content of the other courses I have chosen, as well as the lecturers and professors who are leading them, have also been highly appreciated by NHH-students. I am therefore looking forward to an interesting semester abroad. Organizational Theory , Capital Budgeting and Finance, Applied Quantitative Methods and language courses are the other courses I will attend. Another reason I have for choosing Germany for my exchange semester, is that it would increase my possibilities and motivation for so me day to maybe live in or visit Germany to work.
