Semantic Relations and Their Role for Textual Entailment Recognition.

Tildelt: kr 25 999

The project objective is to study what semantic relations are relevant for automatic recognition of textual entailment and investigate how they can be used to accomplish this task. Textual entailment is crucial for language understanding and is hereby def ined as follows: Given two text fragments T and H, T entails H if, typically, a human reading T would infer that H is most likely true. The project consists of two short phases: (1) relation recognition, and (2) relation matching. The contributions of thi s project include (a) automatic extraction and mapping of semantic relations, and their use for textual entailment recognition and (b) better understanding of the role of semantic relations for textual entailment recognition.
