MILJØ2015-Norsk miljøforskning mot 2015

Formidling av anvendbare forskningsresultater; gås og landbruk i Norge

Tildelt: kr 99 999

Recent increases in the size of wild goose populations in Europe are causing serious conflicts with agricultural interests as geese converge on farmland to feed. In Norway, the population of the Svalbard-breeding pink-footed geese is causing problems for many farmers and several initiatives to alleviate the conflict have been suggested and established (a call to use hunting as a way of controlling population size, a compensation scheme). The goose-agriculture relation is the basis for several projects fun ded by the Research Council. In the present project we want to organise a conference/workshop for the involved stakeholders in these projects. Our aim is that knowledge produced in the projects will be implemented at a local and regional scale. The projec ts are multi- and cross-disciplinary and encourage extensive contact with users at different levels; environmental and agricultural authorites, stakeholder associations and farmers/landowners. Arranging a conference, like suggested in the present project, will facilitate the implementation process and contribute to the framing of a sustainable environmental policy through concrete measures and guidelines in the conflicts between the management of biological resources and agricultural industry policy.
