Crafting Climate Advisors - Developing Arenas for the Education of Craftsmen in the Face of Climate Transitions

This pre project will initiate an arena for learning that may enable relevant competence to efficiently be put to use in the vocational educational program for future craft and journeymen. The demand for such arenas stems from the considerable transitions the building sector face in order to respond to consequences of climate change. Our future crafts- and journeymen will play a central role in shaping the climate solutions together with their clients and customers. As such, they play an essential role in the shaping and dissemination of climate knowledge, and knowledge about energy and innovation. Still, this has been given little attention in vocational education programs, and arenas for learning and cooperation are, and will be very much in demand. To be able to explore how teachers, pupils, journeymen, experienced craftsmen and scientists envision the conditions for educating the crafts- and journeymen as climate advisors we will invite teachers and pupils to take part of working groups. In order to develop the knowledge generated by the workshop and to map out areas of knowledge that we need to address in a larger project we will initiate a Crafting Climate Advisors competence network. This network will consist of people that took part in and contr ibuted to the workshop.The aim of these meetings is to discuss the future design of the vocational education programme. We will emphasize possible ways of integrating project work, where pupils may learn in cooperation with house owners and construction c ompanies. We will seek to integrate these pilot projects in a larger research project.
