Changing Welfare States and the Consequences in the Context of European Integration

The project takes a look at the changing welfare states in Europe in the European context. Political and welfare systems and policies are challenged by increasingly diverse and complexe societies. These challenges cannot be thought about without putting t hem into a more global context. In particular the continuing European integration influences existing systems and requires new forms of governance with interactions on and inbetween different levels of government. European integration and the ensuing tran sformations the welfare states in Europe undergo at the moment have also direct impacts on the population in Europe. The projects wants to focus in particular on the consequences for the population in the areas of labour and social inequality, especially gender inequality.
